Beardown East Tor

Beardown Tors, Bear Down Tors, Beara Down Tors, Beardon Tors, Beardown Hill, Bairdown Tor, Bare Down Tor

Containing a military flagpole for the Merrivale Firing Range, but not lying within it, this is the easternmost of the Beardown group. It possesses a beautiful view of both Longaford Tor and Wistman's Wood to the east, but the tor itself is less pronounced and its top is covered with grass.

The Beardown Tors are a collection of nine outcrops, apparently, but four of them are most prominent. Despite popular OS maps marking these tors collectively as one entity, each outcrop is distinctively separate and for this database, we feel a little leeway is permitted in order to describe them.

One of the most easily recognisable groups of outcrops on the moor, they can be viewed from the B3212 and B3357 roads near Two Bridges. The best way to reach these four is from the car park at Holming (Omen) Beam.
