Brent Hill North-East Tor

On the north-east side of Brent Hill, there are some delightful non-granite crags straddling the wall which separates access and non-access land, but fortunately, the best part of the tor sits in the former. Trees and bracken hide much of it from above so approach from below to obtain the best perspective.

This location is easily reached from the bridleway to the west of here which then turns into a narrow, twisting path which ascends the rocks en route to the Summit Tor southward. The best of the crags can be found at SX 7038 6180, and another smaller collection, eastward at SX 7041 6182, is seen bisected by a wall and fence. It's from here where the crags continue, though fizzling out into the hill.

As is the case with much of Brent Hill the views are awesome, and on a clear day much of what Eric Hemery calls the 'Eastern Highlands' can be seen: Old House Hill on Hameldown, Bonehill Down, Rippon Tor and Haytor Rocks. Although the southerly view is obscured thanks to the increasing height, you can still see much of the coast to the east.
