Little Nutcracker

Situated some 150 metres below and to the south-west of the famous Nutcracker Logan Rock is a striking little tor best seen from below. Its isolated position away from the main tor, 'The Nutcracker', renders it an unmistakable feature in the landscape on the gentle slope of the hill and in 2019 has won for itself the name of 'Little Nutcracker'.

Poorly documented in the literature the west side reaches about 15 feet in height. Eric Hemery makes a disappointing one-line reference to the ruined pile on page 687 of 'High Dartmoor'.

The granite here is heavily weathered, representing a much smaller broken rock ridge compared to the one above on The Nutcracker. Casting its own clitter down the hillside down towards the road, the name of 'Little Nutcracker' seems appropriate to honour the destroyed logan stone which once stood in this vicinity.
