Rowtor

Rough Tor, Row Tor

A wonderful granite tor and viewpoint that is the closest to Okehampton Camp and hence the car park below it to the north-east. An easy to access tor with several interesting piles and big views.

Hemery describes it; "The scenery here is dominated by the two tors, huge W. Mil above the left bank and, opposing it, the broken or 'rough' pile of Rough Tor (approx. 1,530 feet). The main pile heads a wide plateau, on the north and east sides, where are numerous minor piles; at least seven worthy of inspection lie under one's eye in the view from the summit pile towards the Battle Camp."
